Noted oddball and new mom to teenage boys, Sia, is famous for shielding her face from the public (even before COVID-19, when it was cool), but a recent fuck-up involving, of all people, Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, has resulted in invites to the #SiaIsOverParty (honestly, I was so high when I first saw that trending, I thought people were trying to cancel salsa WHILE I WAS EATING SALSA, and I had to lie down for a day and a half). I’m still mad at Sia for performing that awful Chandelier song with Lena Dunham back in 2014.
It all started when a fan tweeted Sia, asking if she’d ever collaborate with Nicki––and the request came with a picture of Nicki. The fan’s tweet has since been deleted, but since a thing called screenshotting exists, Twitter got a screenshot:
Sia reveals she loves @iamcardib and would be down to do a collaboration with her any day!
She also mistaked Nicki Minaj for Cardi B. pic.twitter.com/nDqrbi7IXy

Here’s Sia’s response to that tweet, mistaking Nicki for Cardi B:
I love @iamcardib and although this isn't a collaboration, I would love to COLLAB with her any day!

I mean, believe me, I’d LOVE to forget everything about Nicki Minaj after her year of despicable choices, but even if I didn’t recognize a photo of her, I’d lift the stupid wig up off of my eyes, pass it to an assistant and have them confirm who it is.
Once everybody began to call Sia out, she thought that Twitter was blaming her for trying to start a feud between Nicki and Cardi (which, I mean, doesn’t really require much effort). In a bunch of additional since-deleted tweets, Sia thought it would be better to bring up the issue of racism. It didn’t go well.
“My fuck up @NickiMinaj,” and”Hey @iamcardib @NICKIMINAJ you aren’t thinking about a feud right now are you? We are focused on the problem of systemic racism.”
Which was then followed by this one, ALSO since-deleted:
“I don’t give a shit about feuds, George Floyd was fucking murdered. Breonna Taylor. Murdered. Come on let’s rise in unity. You think @iamcardib and Nikki [sic] are so petty that they would want you focusing on a silly feud instead of REAL NEWS.”
LITERALLY WHAT?!?! SIA! This is the most head-scratch-y case of WTF I’ve seen this week. And it’s been a hell of a week. Sia tried to play it off as a misunderstanding, but the damage was done and #SiaIsOverParty is still trending. She followed it up with an apology.
I totally misunderstood a tweet earlier that has resulted in me making a buffoon out of myself.
Sorry @NICKIMINAJ and @iamcardib if you hear about it.
Can I just like you both?— sia (@Sia) June 13, 2020
No word yet from either Nicki or Cardi. But Sia’s messiness may have actually brought them together, because they are probably DM-ing each other right now with, “Can you believe her ass?”
